Sherbrooke

Sherbrooke is a small settlement and suburb of metropolitan Melbourne nestled in the Dandenong Ranges. Sherbrooke's postcode is 3789 and its population (2006) is 196. Majestic mountain ash trees, lush ferns and greenery and an abundance of fauna and birdlife make Sherbrooke an unforgettable place to visit.

The first stop for many is Grants on Sherbrooke, a popular cafe and gift shop with a picnic ground nearby. If you would like to feed the rosellas, cockatoos and other birds in the bird-feeding area, please be sure to purchase a token at the cafe as bringing your own seed etc is prohibited.

After a coffee and some bird-feeding you may wish to take a walk on one of three nearby walking tracks: Margaret Lester Forest Walk (300m, easy), Hardy Gully Nature Walk (700m, moderate), Eastern Sherbrooke Forest Walk (7.1km, difficult). Another popular walking track is the Sherbrooke Falls Walk (2.4km, moderate). To access this walking track, the Sherbrooke Picnic Ground is a good starting point. For a delicious brunch or lunch, you can't go past Piggery Cafe, which is located at the historic property Burnham Beeches. In late March, 2018 Burnham Beeches received Council approval for a $40 million redevelopment into a world-class 6-star luxury retreat and gastronomic tourist destination. For dinner, Woods Sherbrooke specialises in Asian-inspired cuisine and provides an intimate dining atmosphere. If you are planning a wedding or some other event, you may wish to consider Poet's Lane or Marybrooke.

Sherbrooke truly is a special part of Melbourne, well-worth visiting. The best part is the feeling of seclusion, that you are miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
